PrecisionPlastics at AOP 2026

Researchers Rui Carvalho and Bruna Neiva, from the PrecisionPlastics project, presented the paper “Automated Polymer Pellet Classification Using Short-Wave Infrared Hyperspectral Imaging” at AOP 2026 — the 7th International Conference on Applications of Optics and Photonics, held in Lisbon from 7 to 10 July 2026.
The work uses short-wave infrared (SWIR) hyperspectral imaging to classify polymer pellets automatically, a technology with strong potential to make plastics recycling more accurate, faster and more efficient.
PrecisionPlastics (COMPETE2030-FEDER-01183400) is coordinated at UFP, with scientific responsibility, by Prof. Christophe Soares, Prof. Feliz Gouveia, Prof. António Lobo Ribeiro and Prof. João Viana.
