The 8th FrEEE — Education, Employment and Entrepreneurship Fair took place on 29 and 30 April in Tomar. UFP was represented by Prof. Christophe Soares, coordinator of the degree in Informatics Engineering, at the invitation of the Tomar City Council.

On 29 April he ran the workshop “Creating with Artificial Intelligence: First Steps”, designed for secondary-school students with no technical background. In one hour, the participants got a practical basis for using generative AI usefully and critically, across four families of tools: text, image, audio and video, and vibe coding.

Rather than a lecture, it was a build-along session: a fictional brand, “Mel & Caos”, was created live, from the offer and copy to the visual identity, a video advert and a published website. The session introduced a simple framework for writing effective prompts — role, task, context, format — and three points of care: hallucinations, privacy and academic honesty.

The closing message: everything shown, from language models to image and video generators, was built by people trained in computing. Knowing how to program is what separates those who master these tools from those who only imitate.
