Announcement for a BI scholarship in the scope of the FCT project SafeHomeHealthCare (SHHC), PTDC/EIA-EIA/108352/2008.
There is an open position for a scholarship in the scope of the project PTDC/EIA-EIA/108352/2008, entitled “SafeHomeHealthCare: Interference-free Home Health-Care Smart Spaces using Search Algorithms and Meta-Reality Reflection”. This project is financed by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) through structural EU founds and national MCTES founds. The conditions are the following:
1. Duration and Conditions: 7 months, beginning November 2012, with exclusivity, according FCT regulations (http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/normasbolsasemprojectos.phtml.pt).
2. Goals and Activities: The SHHC project is in its third and final stage of development and the researcher should focus on task T3 (evaluation with home health-care scenario). This task is intended to complement and evaluate the reflective platform prototyped in tasks T1 and T2, through the implementation of a smart space based on the integration of a set of pre-selected systems that allow controlling both the residential environment (e.g., light, temperature, IP telephony, entertainment, exercise, etc.) and the vital parameters of persons at home (e.g., temperature, activity / position, etc.). We intend to complement the system’s state introspection and adaptation mechanisms, by using SNMP and UPnP technologies. The goals look to prevent or detect and resolve potential functional interferences between the various selected systems to ensure a safe environment for supporting residents. Scientific Supervisor: Rui Silva Moreira.
3. Academic Degree: MSc in informatics or electrical and computer Engineering. Other areas may be accepted if considered in the scope of the project.
4. Salary: 980,00€/month, according to the budget of the Project and amounts fixed by FCT (http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.pt) plus Voluntary Social Insurance to Social Security (optional).
